Fiberglass square tube

A fiberglass square tube is a closed glass fiber reinforced polymer profile with equal nominal outside sides. Its flat faces provide drawing references for brackets and drilled connections, while its hollow interior requires separate attention to corner radii and insert clearance. FRP, GRP and glass fibre square tube refer to this same product form.

Selection notes

  1. Do not infer the insert shape

  2. Name each drilled face

Choose the configuration

What to resolve before selecting this product

Do not infer the insert shape

Outside side minus two walls gives a nominal flat-to-flat opening, but does not describe the internal corners. Supply the insert corner geometry and required insertion depth.

Name each drilled face

Use face labels and one length datum. A square outline can hide an incorrectly rotated hole pattern; show whether opposite holes must align and how the part will be installed.

Confirm the actual section

Catalogue limits do not guarantee every side, wall and length combination. Request the proposed drawing and tooling confirmation before treating a size as available.

Evidence and purchasing requirements

Inspect the corners as well as the sides

FeatureWhat the purchase drawing should control
Equal outside sidesLabel both measurements and agreed tolerances; do not accept one side measurement as the whole check.
Internal cornersDefine radius or a mating gauge that represents the actual insert.
Face alignmentSpecify squareness and twist requirements with an agreed inspection setup.
Holes and slotsIdentify the face, end datum and relationship between opposing features.

Keep the source dimensions in millimeters. A nominal metric section is not automatically interchangeable with an inch-sized sleeve. A fit sample should represent the production material, surface condition and machining revision. Dimensional approval also leaves structural performance to a separate review of the loading, connections and proposed material data.

Supply workflow

From product specification to delivery

Use these stages to define responsibilities, interfaces and the evidence needed at handover.

  1. 01

    Issue the face-labelled drawing

Provide side, wall, radii, hole references and cut-length quantities.

  2. 02

    Confirm tooling and material

Resolve the proposed section and any departures from the enquiry.

  3. 03

    Approve the assembled sample

Check insert clearance and bracket alignment using nominated mating parts.

  4. 04

    Review lot inspection

Reconcile dimensions, hole pattern and labels before dispatch.

Scope of supply

Prepare your enquiry

Send an enquiry that can be quoted

Include the drawings and requirements below so engineering can confirm the configuration, exclusions and lead time.

Include in your RFQ

  • Outside side, wall and corner requirements
  • Face-labelled hole pattern with datum end
  • Insert dimensions and assembly sample requirements
  • Service loads, exposure and required test evidence
  • Quantities by length, packaging and delivery destination

Agree the acceptance evidence

  • Measure both sides and walls at nominated positions.
  • Check corner clearance using the approved insert or gauge.
  • Inspect squareness, twist and face-specific machining.
  • Verify cut lengths, surface condition and lot records.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Are all catalogue size combinations available?
No availability is established by these ranges. Obtain an offer identifying the complete section, quantity and production lead time.
Does the square shape establish a load capacity?
No. A load assessment needs the material properties, span, supports and connections for the particular assembly. Same-size steel performance cannot be transferred to fiberglass.
